The Board of Directors of STA.SY decided to hold a competition for the coloring of all the facilities and the 3 lines of the Metro, a large-scale project, with a budget of 770,000 euros
Large-scale interventions have been underway in recent months on the “Piraeus – Kifisia” Metro Line 1 network, in an effort to upgrade and modernize the facilities, but also to resolve chronic problems in the historic and oldest Fixed Communications Metro Line.
Among the interventions implemented during this period, is the gradual replacement of all conventional lamps and lighting fixtures with LED counterparts in all stations and the tunnel of Line 1, a budget project of 293,800 euros. The new Led technology gives longer life to the lampsthe company saves energy due to low operating costs and at the same time human resources due to less maintenance.
The same time, the 761,000 euro tender is in progress, for the replacement of 5,600 meters of wire mesh fencing with new railings, mainly for security reasons. During this period, the anti-slip protection of the exposed surfaces, floors and stairs, where a problem of slipperiness had been identified, is progressing, with a budget of 154,000 euros. Already, the application has been carried out on selected surfaces at Attiki, Faliro, Tavros, KAT, Monastiraki stations.
Alongside, with its recent decision, the Board of Directors of STA.SY decided to hold a competition for the coloring of all the facilities and the 3 lines of the Metro, a large-scale project, with a budget of 770,000 euros, which will completely upgrade the image of the network. STA.SY’s technical crews daily intervene and restore damage to the walls of Line 1 Metro stations, which show frequent damage, mainly due to age and humidity, while in collaboration with external partners they regularly remove graffiti from station surfaces , even applying specialized products in difficult cases of surfaces, such as marble.
“These are essentially the initial interventions of a broader action plan of STA.SY for the overall upgrade and restructuring of Line 1, both the facilities and the fleet of trains, as well as the maintenance of the network”, underlines in his statement to APE-MPE the managing director of STA.SY Athanassios Kottaras and concludes “With targeted interventions, step by step we are trying to provide solutions to the accumulated problems of the years, faced by the most historic, but also extremely vulnerable Metro line of Attica Piraeus – Kifissia. We know that we still have a long way to go, but our goal is for the first Metro Line of our network to once again acquire the facilities of a modern Metro network and regain the trust of the passenger public.”
