As provided by the legislation, all candidates who wish to participate in the 2024 nationwide examinations of General High Schools (GEL) and Vocational High Schools (EPAL), for admission to Tertiary Education, must submit to their High School an Application-Declaration of candidacy for participation in these exams, as the Ministry of Education points out in its announcement.

The deadline for this year is set from Wednesday 29-11-2023 to Friday 15-12-2023 for all candidates who wish to participate in the nationwide examinations of General High Schools (GEL) and Vocational High Schools (EPAL). It is pointed out that the above deadline is exclusive and no Application-Declaration will be accepted after it has passed.

The candidate (student or graduate) can obtain the Application – Declaration that corresponds to his case either from the internet or from his High School. He will then complete the Application – Declaration according to the instructions on the form and will come to his High School, for its final electronic submission. On the official website of the Ministry of Education www.minedu.gov.gr, under the EXAMINATIONS link, the relevant Application-Declaration models and the relevant circulars that fully describe the procedure and the detailed supporting documents for each category of candidate (GEL or EPAL, student or graduate). Also, the relevant circulars with the corresponding Application-Declaration templates are already being sent to the High Schools.

For candidates with disabilities and special educational needs or special learning difficulties who are examined orally or in writing on a case-by-case basis, a circular is issued regarding the supporting documents that must be submitted.

In the same deadline (from Wednesday 29-11-2023 to Friday 15-12-2023.), the candidates who may be interested in the 5 Music Departments with the special admission procedure (i.e. the Departments of Music Studies of EKPA, AUTH, of the Ionian University, the University of Ioannina as well as the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia), in addition to the Application-Declaration for the nationwide exams, submit a relevant Application-Responsible Declaration for the 5 Music Departments.

On this occasion, the ministry informs the candidates:

1. Applicants interested in the Military Academies, Police Academies, Fire Academy Academies, Coast Guard Academies and Merchant Marine Academy Academies must additionally apply directly to the Army, Police, Fire, Coast Guard or in the Merchant Navy in a period of time that will be specified in the notices issued by the relevant Ministries and to be considered competent in the preliminary examinations, which are planned for the period March-April 2024. The above notices will be available from the Military Offices, the Police Departments , the Fire Brigade and the Coast Guard respectively at a time to be determined by the co-competent Ministries.

2. Those candidates who are interested in the TEFAAs and will participate in the national exams this year, must declare their desire for the TEFAAs, so that they can also participate in the practical tests (medical examination and competitions).

3. Candidates for 10% of the places (without a new examination) can only be those who were examined nationwide in 2022 or 2023 (with the daily GEL or with the daily EPAL). Those who wish to be candidates for 10% of the seats, will now not submit the Application-Declaration, but a direct computerized slip. If they wish to enter the Army, Police, Fire Brigade, Coast Guard, AEN, they submit a relevant application to the relevant Ministry and participate in the preliminary examinations (March-April 2024).

Candidates for the 10% with the last exam in 2022, will claim their admission with the condition of EBE, as it was formed in the nationwide exams of 2022. Candidates for the 10% with the last exam in 2023, will claim their admission with the condition of the EBE, as it was formed in the nationwide exams of 2023.4. Those of the candidates who fall into the special category of candidates-suffering from serious illnesses (for admission to the 5% of places admitted without exams), must apply to one of the competent seven-member committees of the hospitals, in order to obtain a certificate of their illness. These candidates, since they do not wish to participate in the national examinations, do not submit the Application-Declaration now, but will submit a computerized version on dates to be announced later.
