The defendant’s technical advisor testified that the impact shows that the speed was between 55 and 60 km/h.
With the testimony of the technical advisor of the 27-year-old defendant, the examination of witnesses in the trial for the fatal abduction of 21-year-old Emma, last November, in Kamara, in the center of Thessaloniki, was completed. Disputing the conclusion of the technical expert, according to which the speed of the fatal car was determined to be 104 km/h, the technical advisor stated that the speed was between 55 and 60 km/h.
Specifically, testifying as a defense witness, he stated – among other things – the following: “We did not perform an autopsy, we did not examine whether interventions were made on the vehicle. We commented on another expert’s report with respect to speed. The mathematical formula applied by the expert was incorrect. It was a miscalculation. The speed is derived according to the damage elsewhere fixed point. It results from the blow that the speed was between 55 and 60 km/h. And at that speed it can be fatal, depending on where it hits the victim.”
The proceedings, before the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Thessaloniki, will continue tomorrow with the defendant’s plea and the proposal of the District Attorney. The 27-year-old who is temporarily detained in Nigrita prisons is charged with the felony of dangerous driving resulting in death.
