The road to freedom was found by dozens of wild birds, which were imprisoned by experts in the open market of Schistos.
The second highly successful joint operation of the forest and police authorities to combat the illegal trafficking of wild birds took place on Sunday morning.
As it became known, in the operation were confiscated 28 beetles, 24 flora, 17 goldfinches, 17 logars, 5 red necks, 4 sirloin, 4 crocodiles, 4 tree trunks, 4 fanetas, 3 monks, 2 crucifixes, 2 vinedressers, 1 blackbird, 1 blackbird fir tree.
The birds were transported to the facilities of the Association for the Protection of Wildlife “ANIMA” in Kallithea to be examined veterinarian, to be properly fed and to recover. Those birds that need care, will remain further in the facilities of the Association. Violators will be brought to justice in order to be given the responsibilities provided by the forest code.
“We are determined together with the Ministry of Civil Protection, ELAS and animal welfare organizations to eliminate any illegal activity that threatens wildlife species, which are intended to live freely in nature,” clarified the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, George Amyras.
The operation was carried out under the coordination of the Ministries of Environment and Energy and Citizen Protection, with the assistance of the Wildlife Guard, Forest Service employees, men of the Zeus Group and the Hunting Organizations.
