Serious material damage to cars parked in a parking lot, as well as to the infrastructure of the apartment building, was caused by a fire that broke out early yesterday in the parking lot of an apartment building, on a neighborhood street in Larissa.

The fire is due to arson, with the Larissa Security Directorate, which is investigating the case, looking for two men riding a motorcycle.

According to information from “Eleftheria” on 2.30 yesterday morning, two unknown assailants riding a motorcycle went to the apartment building. One of the perpetrators went on foot to the entrance of the apartment building and threw an improvised explosive device at a parked car, in the uncovered area of ​​the apartment building and then got on the motorcycle and escaped with his accomplice.

THE explosive device extracted in the car of Larissa which according to the first estimates seems to have been the “target» of the action of the two strangers. The passenger car was completely destroyed by the fire, while material damage was also caused to two other cars that were parked inside the parking lot.

According to witnesses, significant material damage was also caused to the infrastructure of the apartment building, with the fire being contained after the intervention of firefighters from the Larissa Fire Service, without threatening human lives. Pyrotechnicians of EL.AS. examined the area, while the case is being investigated by the Larissa Security Directorate.
