Minister of the Interior Niki Kerameos gave clarifications on the process of the postal vote through the frequency of SKAI and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias. As the Minister of the Interior said, “this measure changes the landscape both for expatriates and for Greek voters who are within the territory. Students, students, the elderly, the sick, the disabled, now have the option to vote by mail.”

“It is a measure that deepens Democracy. Europe has set 8 conditions for the reliability of the postal vote and we have included all 8. The process requires attention and in a few minutes you vote from your home”, he added.

Ms. Kerameos pointed out that “we are starting contacts with the parties to discuss our proposal. The bill will not be put up for consultation until contacts are made with the parties. We are absolutely open to suggestions, to improvements. The goal is to take a big step together as a political system. How will we deepen Democracy and how will we all together provide more incentives to increase participation”.

With reference to Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Athens, the Minister of the Interior emphasized: “We are open to dialogue within the framework of International Law. It is in this spirit that the meeting will take place next week.”
