The anti-corrosion restoration projects of the areas of Parnitha that were affected by the disastrous fires of the summer are in full progress, with the financing of the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation, in the total amount of 2,100,000 euros.

The progress of the works was confirmed today during an on-site visit by the General Director of Forestry and Forest Environment of the General Secretariat of Forests of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Evangelos Goudoufas, the Inspector of Forests of Attica, Mr. Athanasios Reppas, the Forester Parnitha, Mrs. Alexandra Lykoudi and Deputy director of the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, Mrs. Pegys Xirotagarou, in Parnitha.

During the visit, an autopsy was performed on the initial stages of the anti-corrosion and anti-flood works in the Rema Agios Georgios and Rema Platanaki areas, which are in full progress and are expected to be completed in February 2024.

The anti-corrosion restoration projects of the burned areas, totaling 11,124 acres, include the construction of log dams, branch dams and log dams, with the aim of anti-corrosion and anti-flood shielding, as well as ensuring the natural regeneration of the area.

For the faster execution of the project, it was decided to divide the area undertaken by the Foundation as the Restoration Contractor into three separate sections, which were assigned to a total of six forestry contracting companies and forestry cooperatives.

The works are carried out on the basis of the relevant approved “Study of anti-corrosion works on the burned areas of the 22-8-2023 fire in the area of ​​responsibility of the Parnitha Forestry Authority”, under the supervision of the said Forestry Service.
