Traffic on the busy streets of Evia is a danger even for the citizens themselves who choose to use roller skates, since yesterday, characteristically, panic prevailed on the central shopping street of Avanton in Chalkida when a girl riding her roller skates suddenly braked and was thrown as a teenage pedestrian he swooped in front of her and forced her to stop.

The girl “flew into the air” and landed a few meters away on the pedestrian street, causing panic to prevail at the point and a number of shocked citizens rushing for help fearing the worst since, as indicatively reported by witnesses of the incident on evima.gr, the accident appeared so serious and the fall of the rider so severe that some believed that she could have been killed.

Fortunately, he was slightly injured with gashes to the arms and legs.

However, a simple walk in Chalkida has turned into a road… with obstacles since the capital of Evia has turned into an endless track… of skates.

What if they have been banned for months in the central market where all the shops in Avanton are located and pedestrian traffic is high?

The ‘skaters’ continue undeterred to thump everywhere, every hour and moment, even driving their skates at particularly high speeds through the world.

Every day the police move with bicycles on the pedestrian street of Avanton and issue fines to dozens of owners who, however, do not seem to be deterred and continue to ride, causing disturbance to their fellow citizens.

In any case, their driving behavior, or rather the lack of it, endangers both pedestrians and themselves since most of the cases of road users with roller skates, which resulted in serious injuries or even deaths.

It is recalled that the restrictions on Copper for bicycles and roller skates in the center of the city were decided on Thursday 18 May 2023 at the meeting of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Chalkide.

Among the issues discussed, the 2nd reform of the budget and technical program for the financial year 2023, as well as the reform of the Integrated Action Framework for the year 2023, were approved by a majority
