The 31-year-old MAT police officer who was injured by a flare during incidents went into surgery for the second time this morningoutside the indoor gym “Melina Merkouri” in Rentiswhile the volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

The flare hit an artery in the police officer, causing him to suffer severe bleeding last night.

The 31-year-old remains in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

According to yesterday’s medical announcement approx at 23:00 the resuscitation process began since when he arrived at the hospital the policeman was unconscious, 25 minutes later he suffered a cardiac arrest, but after 10 minutes the doctors managed to bring him back and hemostatically stabilize him.

Subsequently he entered the operating room and a long operation followed.

Doctors managed to stop the bleeding and he was intubated and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.
