The time of tension

MAT forces had lined up early outside the University on the occasion of the party. The presence of the Police was the occasion for the organization of a protest rally in Agios Georgios Square. The gathered marched towards the university, where the tension was noted.

Two groups of anti-authoritarians, one from inside the AUTH and the second from Ethnikis Amynis Street, approached the platoons that had been deployed at the entrance to Chimeiou Square.

The MAT forces, ordered to remove the protesters from the scene, proceeded to use stun grenades and tear gas. During their departure, some of the anti-authoritarians threw stones at the MAT men.

The tension then moved to the Rotonda area with groups of people setting fire to bins on Armenopoulou Street.
