Proceedings for trafficking-illegal transportation of illegal immigrants, in which a foreigner was fatally injured, dangerous interference with road traffic and insubordination were filed by the police on the occasion of the incident with the immigrants in Agiokambos.

“The Larissa Security Sub-Directorate filed a case file against a foreigner and unknown, so far, perpetrators, for trafficking-illegal transport of illegal immigrants, during which a foreigner was fatally injured, dangerous interference with road traffic and intimidation.

In particular, today (11-12-2023) at midnight in the wider area of ​​Larissa, the driver I.X.E. car, owned by a wanted foreigner, did not comply with the stop signs of the officers of the Police Department of Agia, for control and ran away.

The aforementioned vehicle was spotted and followed by OPKE police officers on patrol. of Larisa and the Larisa Immediate Action Department, while the driver of the vehicle developed a high speed, while making dangerous maneuvers, thereby endangering the physical integrity of the police officers, as well as other road users.

At a dead end in Larissa, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Inside the vehicle were -7- illegal immigrants, of which -3- were minors, while a 59-year-old foreigner was found in the luggage compartment, with obvious head injuries (bleeding). He was taken to a city hospital by an ambulance station, where he was pronounced dead.

In addition, in the early morning hours today, 11-12-2023, police officers of the Agia Police Department located another -30- illegal immigrants, of which -10- were minors on a beach in the area of ​​the Municipality of Agia Larisa. As it turned out, in the evening hours of 10-11-2023, unknown perpetrators-traffickers transported the aforementioned immigrants by boat to their disembarkation point, with the aim of further trafficking.

For the illegal immigrants, the process of their administrative return was initiated.

The aforementioned vehicle was confiscated, as a means of transporting illegal immigrants. Also, -30- euros, -140- Turkish pounds and -20- Israeli Shekels were confiscated from inside the vehicle, while the sum of -2,000- euros was confiscated from the deceased.

The perpetrators are being sought, while the preliminary investigation work is being carried out by the Larissa Security Sub-Directorate”.
