At the completion of five major digital projectsthe Information Society advanced. All are financed by the Operational Program “Public Sector Reform” under the NSRF 2014-2020, by the European Central Bank and the European Regional Development Fund and by national resources.

Particularly,

  • The “Digital Information Center” will fully cover the needs of the General Secretariat of Communication and Information and, by extension, will be an important modern tool for ensuring valid and reliable information for citizens as well as all government structures. At the same time, it will create a very important historical database and open information for the preservation and exploitation of the records of recent and modern history, with an emphasis on those of the media.
  • The “National Codification Portal” will be, on the one hand, the electronic hub of codified legislation, which will be organized according to up-to-date standards and will be available free of charge to the general public, and on the other hand, the platform through which the entire legislative and regulatory flow is standardized, codification is facilitated and the functioning of the structures of good legislation described in the context of the “National Strategy for the Codification and Reform of Greek Legislation 2018-2020” will be supported.
  • The “Army Equity Fund”, with the development of Digital Services, the digitization of the paper Archive and the unified Interoperability Services, now has its own integrated information system and web portal, in collaboration with the Special Branch of Financial Support of Dividend-bearing Army (EKOEMS), the Army Mutual Assistance Special Account (ELOAS) and the Army Employees Mutual Assistance Fund (TAUMTS).
  • With the “Digital Transformation of Consular Services processes” the services provided by the 125 Greek consulates in 85 countries around the world to citizens are improved. The project includes a Digital Citizen Request Management Service as well as a virtual assistant that has already been integrated into the websites of all Greek consular authorities and answers citizens’ questions in writing, in Greek and English and 17 other languages, using artificial intelligence.
  • With the “Electronic Services of the National Printing Office” the process of reception, processing and publication of gazettes is being redesigned, simplified and modeled, with the development of a new modern Information System. Thus, a new service environment for trading citizens and organizations is formed, with personalized features, security and user-friendliness, as well as a sophisticated, faster functionality for searching gazettes by the general public, in order to fully meet the information requirements of stakeholders.

The managing director of the Information Society M.A.E., Stavros Asthenidis emphasized that “we are completely satisfied every time we complete a project, as it is an achievement of our strategic goal. I would like to thank all our partners and also the contractors for the success of our efforts. Our purpose is to open the door even further, to raise the country even higher digitally, daring even bigger leaps towards the future”.
