Mandate for the conduct of an urgent preliminary investigation, the Volos Prosecutor’s Office issued a complaint from the mother of a 7-year-old primary school student of Volos, who was allegedly bullied by an older classmate, who stripped him and played trills on his behind.

According to the newspaper “Tachydromos” of Volos, this is not the first time that this particular primary school has come under the microscope of the Volos Prosecutor’s Office. The most recent intervention was in 2022.

According to the report, the investigation was assigned to the Police, which has already received statements from the complaining parents of the child, the parents of the student who is alleged to be the abuser, as well as from the principal and teachers. Finally, the children will be called to testify, in the presence of a psychologist. If the allegations are confirmed, the parents of the alleged child abuser could face charges of neglect of supervision of a minor.

It should be noted that the Directorate of Primary Education conducts a Sworn Administrative Examination, the result of which will be included in the case file.

On Friday, the 7-year-old was again asked to point to his older classmate who bowled him. Although the child from the first day indicated who the child was, the 7-year-old yesterday morning, again entered the soul-destroying process of identification.

According to the father of the 7-year-old, his son, from the first moment, had indicated the alleged perpetrator of the bullying he received. “In front of the child, many children from the school brought even a little girl. “My son told me which kid was responsible for the letters we found written in marker on his body, but last night, he was asked to go through the soul-destroying process again,” says the father. “We were informed by the school yesterday (the day before yesterday) evening that he will have to repeat the identification process, because allegedly the first time my son was not sure, which is not the case,” he pointed out, speaking to TAHYDROMOS.

The 7-year-old pointed again to the classmate who had disturbed him in this unprecedented way and then returned to his lessons. Outside the schoolyard, his parents were waiting yesterday until the end of the school program to ensure that nothing bad would happen to him during recess. “My wife and I were on the bars and to her credit the teacher of my son’s class, who never let him out of her sight. The child is in good condition, he was playing with his friends. Of course, we had to work a lot psychologically together with his mother, to explain to him that he shouldn’t be afraid and that whatever he needs we will be by his side”, continues the father.

According to the 7-year-old’s father, there has now been an unprecedented outpouring of support from other parents calling him and his wife, expressing their support and sharing their own experiences. “Parents call us every day to support us and to tell us about incidents they themselves faced, they reported them but nothing was done. These are incidents that happened since the beginning of the year but also in previous years. The question is what happens. Violence exists. What are we doing to deal with it? That’s the point. Because silence does not deal with any phenomenon. Personally, I have been disturbed by the treatment of the headmistress and the fact that there was no guidance on how to deal with the matter”, emphasizes the father.

The Sworn Administrative Examination ordered by the Directorate of Primary Education of Magnesia is currently in full swing. “My wife and I have been called to testify on Monday. I don’t think anything will happen. At least that’s what other parents tell us,” says the father of the 7-year-old.

Next week, most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday, it is expected, according to the information available, that the preliminary investigation by the Volos Security sub-directorate will be completed and the case file will reach the Prosecutor’s Office. “We have entered into a soul-destroying and time-consuming process that certainly does not benefit anyone. But something has to be done at some point to protect our children. All children. Because the other kid who did this thing to our son isn’t to blame either. Schools are not only responsible for giving our children knowledge and resources for life. They are obliged to guarantee their safety in them”, he concluded.
