The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court who had requested the investigation of the case with the serious injury of the police officer in Rentis for the offense of the criminal organization, after the delivery of additional evidence by the two ministers, specifically incidents of fan violence and 200 names of cruel hooligans, sent an order to the organized crime service of the Hellenic Police which is supervised by the prosecutor Stamatia Perimeni for an in-depth investigation of the activity of criminal organizations on and off the pitches.

As the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adelini states in her order, the investigations will be carried out to identify the criminal organizations and to this end the prosecutors of the Supreme Court responsible for the supervision of sports matters will be informed Aristotelis Christopoulos and George Economou.

NOTICE – UPDATE

The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adelini today sent the following order to the Prosecutor of Appeals of Athens Stamatina Perimeni, as Supervisor of the Attica Security Directorate in the prosecution of Organized Crime and President of the Coordination Council of Analysis and Investigations of the Ministry of Citizen Protection:
To
Ms. Stamatina Perimeni, Prosecutor of Appeals of Athens,
as Supervisor of the Attica Security Directorate in the prosecution of Organized Crime and President of the Coordination Council for Analysis and Investigations of the Ministry of Citizen Protection

Sharing:
1) Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr. Aristoteli Christopoulos
2) Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Mr. Georgios Oikonomou

After taking into account:

1) The fact that the phenomenon of violent fan violence is increasing in our country, with continuous bloodshed, while the list of victims grows. The latest typical cases are the murders of Alkis KAMPANOS, Michalis KATSOURIS, but also the serious injury, outside the “Melina Mercouri” stadium in Agios Ioannis Rentis, on 7/12/2023, of a YAT police officer, who is fighting for his life of.
2) The particular characteristics of the above cases, which lead to the finding that the known to all of us fan associations create with their mechanisms (massive structures with a hierarchical structure, distribution of responsibilities and roles, strict discipline, etc.), the conditions for criminal organizations to “thrive” in them. Thus, motivated hordes of hooligans, who are equipped with deadly weapons by their leaders, while they are sometimes also stimulated by statements of group agents, links of organized fans, etc., which create a toxic atmosphere, almost like a war, hooligans who are often associated with criminal elements , active in other areas of organized crime (drugs, extortion, weapons, etc.), commit heaps of serious criminal acts, accomplishing more and more murderous attacks with a sports sign, on or off the fields, which shock society and stigmatize sports.
3) The related to the above topic (fan violence) information provided to us by the Minister of Citizen Protection Mr. Economou and the Deputy Minister of Sports Mr. Vroutsis.

We are sending you all of these details (under no. 3) and plead for your legal actions, including activating your independently recognized right to a preliminary examination or preliminary investigation (article 4 par.3 of Law 2265/1994, as applicable), in cooperation with the locally competent Security Directorates and their existing Services, in order to ascertain the existence of any relevant criminal organizations, the identity of these members, the their financing method, their possible connection with other organized criminal actions, such as drugs, extortion, weapons, etc.

It goes without saying that every procedural possibility should be used in this direction (remove phone privacyy, carrying out investigations, special investigations, etc.).

Please finish to inform the competent Deputy Prosecutors of the Supreme Court, Mr. Aristoteli Christopoulos and Mr. Georgios Oikonomou, about the progress of your investigations.

The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court

Georgia Adeline
