A ring of illegal immigrant trafficking was dismantled by police officers of the security department of Western Achaia. Two people were arrested, facing charges of directing and forming a criminal organization, facilitating the illegal transportation of aliens, and forgery.
In the investigations carried out more than 1,100 passports and residence permits, 15,270 euros and eight notebooks were found with details of people and amounts of money.
Specifically the police officers of the Western Achaia Security Department, they located the two alleged traffickers, as well as 17 foreigners, 15 of whom lacked legal documents for their stay in the country, in a rural house, in an area of ​​Western Achaia.
The defendants allegedly promoted foreigners to European Union countries, for a total price of 6,500 euros per person. Initially, they allegedly extorted the sum of 2,500 euros from the foreigners for their entry into Greece and their transportation inside, while for housing, feeding, their transportation to the airport, the issuance of tickets and appropriate travel documents, they demanded an additional 4,000 euros from each.
The members of the circuit acted with a different composition every time and they looked for drivers and vehicles to transport the foreigners into the country, while taking care of their accommodation in accommodation as well as forging travel documents, which would allow the foreigners to go to European Union countries.
The foreigners, after their arrival in Greece, were picked up by drivers of the criminal organization and taken to Athens, while they were then taken to temporary accommodation in Attica and Achaia, until their definitive transition to European countries. At the same time, they took away foreigners’ passports and issued fake residence and residence permits of European countries or granted them genuine ones that belonged to other persons. In the event that the foreigners did not have a passport, the members of the criminal organization provided them with passports of other people and nationalities.
In an investigation carried out in the rural house – where the arrested persons were located – the police officers of the Western Achaia Security Department located and seized the following:

• 431 Residence Permits of European Union countries
• 7 Identity Cards of Greek Authorities
• 4 Identity Cards of French Authorities
• 120 temporary Residence permits
• 1 stamp of Indian authorities
• 15,270 euros
• 1,580 dinars
• 4 cars
• 8 notebooks with handwritten notes with personal details
and corresponding sums of money, and
• Number of mobile devices
The arrested were taken to the Prosecutor of First Instance of Patras.
