The red loans managed by the Loan and Credit Claims Management Companies increased by 25 million euros in the third quarter of the year, bringing their total value to 71.186 billion euros.

This development is due to an increase in both non-performing loans to businesses and in the increase recorded by bad mortgage and consumer loans.

In more detail, according to data from the Bank of Greece, the nominal value of business loans under management increased to 23.953 billion. euros at the end of the third quarter of 2023, from 23.921 billion euros at the end of the previous quarter. In more detail, the nominal value of loans to non-financial enterprises (NFEs) increased by 34 million euros and amounted to 23.890 billion euros at the end of the third quarter of 2023. Of the loans under management to NFEs, an amount of 12.20 billion . euros concerns loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The nominal value of loans under management to other financial institutions decreased by 2 million euros and amounted to 63 million euros at the end of the third quarter of 2023.

The nominal value of loans under management to self-employed professionals, farmers and sole proprietorships increased by 12 million euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 9.593 billion euros at the end of the third quarter of 2023.

The nominal value of loans under management to individuals and private non-profit institutions decreased by 20 million euros compared to the previous quarter and amounted to 37,640 billion euros at the end of the third quarter of 2023. In more detail, consumer loans under management presented a decrease of 37 million euros and amounted to 15,813 million euros. Mortgage loans under management showed an increase of 18 million euros and amounted to 21.528 billion euros.
