SKAI journalist Ioanna Mandrou mentioned the three people who request to be included in a witness protection regime other than the 18-year-old.

It is clarified that these three persons are not directly related to the incidents in Rentis, as he was not in the episodes, nor in the field. These three people, who are most likely to be placed under protection, have made it known to the prosecutors that they know important information about the activity of gangs that operate inside and outside the stadiums, mainly in Western Athens.

As judicial sources clarify, anyone who wants to enter a protection regime he must convince that what he knows is serious, and that what he will say is not already known to the authorities, that he offers them new information, new material, and that is what they appreciate about the specific people. As it seems, there is an intention to open their mouths and talk about the hierarchical structure of organizations that operate in these spaces.

As far as the 18-year-old is concerned, he cannot currently be in protective status at the moment he is accused and has confessed to seriously injuring the policeman, but he can enter, and this is being considered by the police authorities, if the investigation proceeds within the framework of criminal organization, as he has not yet been charged with this offence, and his attitude may be assessed for this offense.

Fan violence: Intervention of the Supreme Court – The investigation is being upgraded

It is recalled that an order for the investigation of dismantling of criminal organizations on and off the pitches was given by the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adelini to the Prosecutor of Appeals of Athens Stamatina Perimeni. The investigation will be wide-ranging, as described in the Supreme Court prosecution document.

As Ioanna Mandrou pointed out, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court requests that they be identified the criminal organizations that operate on and off the pitches, to identify their members, to find their financiers and to investigate, evaluate and prove the relationships these criminal gangs have with other criminal activities such as drugs, extortion, protection in shops, etc.

Mrs. Adelini also makes it clear that it should be used every procedural possibility in this direction (removal of telephone privacy, conducting investigations, special investigative operations, etc.). He also refers to the serious wounding of the policeman in Rentis, but also to the murders of Kampanos and Katsouris, emphasizing at the same time that it is not just about fan violence, but is connected to organized crime, which is why the issue is being transferred to the corresponding agency.
