To a total prison sentence of 10 months, suspended for 3 yearsa 60-year-old man was sentenced because he had become the “shadow” of a 22-year-old woman for two months.

The 60-year-old man, who declared himself “in love” with the young woman, was found guilty by the Independent Single-Member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki for threatening with persistent surveillance (follow-up) and illegal carrying of weapons, as a cow was found on him during his arrest.

As the 22-year-old explained to the court, she met the defendant at the restaurant where she worked and talked to him “like all the patrons”.

When she quit her job last October, she “started sending cell phone messages, letters, gifts to the house,” she testified. “He was watching me,” she said addressing the court and added: “He lives a block away and he knew where I lived. I explained to him that I don’t want any contact with him, but he didn’t respect that, he followed me in the car and chased me.”

Apologizing, the 60-year-old said, among other things: “I was sitting outside her house and talking to her when I saw her. I wasn’t stalking her in the stalking sense, I was just leaving a letter because I’m in love with her.”

Regarding the cow that he had with him, noted that he used it for household chores.
