The two detainees who went through the door of the 7th regular interrogator in Thessaloniki today, before whom they apologized for the murderous attack against 19-year-old Alkis and the injury of his two friends, were sentenced to pre-trial detention.
The two defendants, 20 and 21 years old, seem to have arrived at the scene of the bloody incident in the car driven by the 23-year-old, first arrested for the case and already temporarily detained.
Both admitted in their long apologies that they were at the scene of the heinous crime, but denied that they were the ones who killed the 19-year-old student.
According to information, the 20-year-old, originally from Albania, allegedly apologized that he “got involved with one of the children who was injured” and specifically with “the one who had a helmet in his hand”. As he said “he hit me with the helmet and I wounded him with the knife twice in the leg”.
The 21-year-old Greek claimed that he was not actively involved in the murder of the unfortunate student or in the injury of his two friends. “We went to the area (of Charilaou) because we knew that there was a link and that there were fans there. Coming out of the car I see very strong blows and bats with great intensity. I realized that the situation would be diverted and possibly lead to fatal results. That’s why I got back in the car. “I saw some people carrying knives and some people not,” the accused allegedly said.
He himself, according to what became known, said he regretted the incident. “I do not know how I will live from now on knowing that I am part of what happened,” he told investigators.
Their pre-trial detention was decided with the consent of the investigator and the prosecutor.
It is recalled that the 23-year-old Albanian, who was the first arrest, has already been sentenced to temporary detention.
The apologies continue until Friday
The process of apologies and the rest of the accused will continue for the next two 24 hours.
A total of 11 people were identified and charged in the case, including eight Greeks and three Albanians, aged 20 to 25. Except for a 20-year-old Albanian man – who allegedly fled abroad and was issued an international search warrant against him – all have been arrested.
DNA collection
Meanwhile, in an order issued earlier, the investigator requested that all those arrested undergo a DNA test to be compared with the biological material found on the evidence collected by the Thessaloniki Security from the crime scene to determine the degree of participation of each of them in the deadly incident.
