“And if the wallet contained 20 or 50 euros, I would hand it over without a second thought,” says the businessman from Patras
He found a purse on the street containing the sum of 7,000 euros and without a second thought entered the process of handing it over to the Police, while when he saw the name of the owner, he realized that it was his client.
The reason for Mr. Dimitris Grammatikopoulos, who runs a car repair shop in the city. “I was going on Thursday morning with my father and my motorbike to a job, when on Antheias Street in Zarouhleika, we saw a wallet thrown on the street. We got it and went back home to get ready to go down to the police and hand it over. In addition to the large sum of money of 7,000 euros it contained, it had cards and the identity of its owner. When I saw the name, I realized that it was someone I have worked with and know personally. I called him and immediately understood his desperation. I told him, come from the shop I have to give you a gift and that’s when he realized what had happened,” he said.
As Mr. Grammatikopoulos says, “Even if the wallet contained 20 or 50 euros, I would hand it over without a second thought. Let’s be human. Unfortunately we have lost our humanity. The money I found was intended to pay off obligations to suppliers. Imagine what debt would have been incurred to my fellow man if they had not been returned to him.’
