Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni expressed her optimism for the new tourist year of 2024 in an interview with SKAI, stating that Greece is now an attractive destination. Without referring to numbers, etc., he pointed out that the Ministry of Tourism aims, among other things, at the dynamic promotion of Greece in foreign markets by making use of new media, such as that of Tik-Tok, etc. Referring to 2023, however, he recalled that he achieved record arrivals and revenues by surpassing the numbers of 2019, with what this implies for the contribution of tourism to the Greek economy.

For 2024, the Ministry of Tourism will run actions that will put into practice the vision of sustainability, moderation and balance at every step. With the aim of extending the tourist season, Mrs. Kefalogianni focused on enriching the tourist portfolio with new products. Such as the promotion of marine tourism, (diving parks-Marines, etc.), but also alternative forms of tourism (walking, skiing, etc.).

At this time, the competent ministry is racing to ensure that not a single euro is lost from the funds of the Recovery Fund. In fact, the minister announced that a short extension will be given for the submission of the proposals concerning the utilization of the Marinas, which expires today.

In any case, 2025 is the deadline for the proposals regarding the Recovery Fund and the most productive ministry wants to run the upgrade of the tourist infrastructure. Finally, 2024 is expected to be a year of upgrading tourism education, as Mrs. Kefalogianni pointed out, it is one of the ministry’s big bets.
