As Mrs. Agapidaki pointed out, in recent days there has been an overcrowding in pediatric hospitals due to the fact that the pediatric practices of private pediatricians are closed due to the holidays
At today’s meeting of the National Committee for Infections after increased cases of coronavirus and viruses that have been observed in recent days, the Deputy Minister of Health mentioned, Irini Agapidakisspeaking on SKAI 100.3 radio.
“At today’s meeting, the scientists reached a series of recommendations, which the EODY will make public tomorrow with a press release” said Mrs. Agapidaki.
He pointed out that in recent days there is an overcrowding in pediatric hospitals because the pediatric practices of private pediatricians are closed for the holidays.
He clarified, however, that no pressure is observed on the hard indicators of the NSS.
As he said, those who are over 60 or have chronic diseases should not neglect their vaccination with new vaccine. He emphasized that of the 160,000 vaccinations that have been done, more than 80% concern citizens over 60 years of age, which percentage should, however, increase.
Questioned for the possibility of the mask being mandatory again e.g. in MMM, Mrs. Agapidaki stated that the obligation was a last measure during the outbreak of the virus, it has now expired, therefore her return is not considered valid.
“No compulsion will be needed and no country now experiencing an increased wave of coronavirus or flu has so far taken such a measure,” he said characteristically.
