The Air Force pilot died on Wednesday when the T2 training aircraft crashed a short distance from the Kalamata airport.

By Presidential Decree to be issued, at the proposal of the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikos Dendias, following the recommendation of the Chief of General Staff General Konstantinos Floros and the decision of the Council of Chiefs of General Staff (SAGE), the rank of Vice-Captain is awarded to Commander (I) Epaminondas Kosteas (AM: 63824), who died while performing a duty involving increased risk.

Earlier, in the morning in an atmosphere of deep emotion it took place at the Ministry of National Defense the attribution of values to the commentator Epaminondas Kosteas.
At the time of the flag raising (at 7:30) and in the presence of the political and military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, military and civilian personnel came out to the balconies of the YETHA to pay tribute to the deceased 40-year-old pilot.
