What the director of the Venizeli ICU, Anestis Kioulpalis, says
Unfortunately, despite everyone’s prayers, the miracle did not happen for the 17-year-old student who suffered an allergic shock and seizure during a school trip to Heraklion.
According to information from cretapost, the 17-year-old is now brain dead and her relatives have been informed of the situation.
“We have completed all the tests to determine her brain function and unfortunately they have shown that she is brain dead. Her condition is irreversible”, said the director of the Venizeli ICU, Anestis Kioulpalis, speaking to cretapost.
How did the incident happen?
As cretapost has already written, the 17-year-old student of the Art School of Attica was with her school on a trip to Heraklion and they were staying in a hotel in Ammoudara. On the morning of Sunday, December 10, during breakfast, the 17-year-old – who was allergic to dairy products – consumed a quantity of butter.
Within minutes an allergic reaction occurred with the student realizing it and going to the hotel room to inject the adrenaline she always carried with her.
However, a short time later she was found unconscious by her classmates and teachers.
EKAV was immediately notified and rushed to the scene and transported her to Venizelio hospital.
It was interrupted
The allergic shock suffered by the 17-year-old caused her to stop, despite the adrenaline injection she had given herself.
The doctors after a few minutes managed to bring her back to life with many efforts. The student was immediately intubated and taken to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital where she is hospitalized in critical condition.
