The first concern is the pressure exerted on hospitals by the coronavirus and the flu and the acceleration of vaccinations, said Adonis Georgiadis when he arrived at the Ministry of Health, the first day after assuming his duties after yesterday’s swearing-in.

“We need to accelerate vaccinations, which are 35,000 more than last year but significantly lower than during the pandemic. Society has relaxed, but the coronavirus is still here,” he said, speaking positively about the work of Deputy Health Minister Irini Agapidakis.

When asked if he is worried about the hospitals, he replied that he is worried in the sense that people are suffering.

Mr. Georgiadis assured the citizens that everything will be fine, that he has come with enthusiasm and appetite for work in a ministry that he knows well from his previous term.

“I want the day I leave, because ministers are judged when we leave ministries, for people to say that they saw a significant change, that we have better hospitals,” he said

“In general, in the ministries where I did better, I left things for later. We’ll see,” he said.
