A proposal of censure against Dimitris Markopoulos for his phrase “gourlid committee” at the meeting of the investigation for Tempi, submitted by the New Left with rapporteur Peti Perkas.

“It is obvious the attempt to cover up the responsibilities of Mr. Karamanlis and the ND government in general for the tragic accident in Tempe. The Investigative Committee, by a majority decision, started the investigation from 1997 and with witnesses who have no connection to the accident – as a result we are examining witnesses who do not know, do not remember after so many years and all they testify are hypothetical judgments. On the contrary, he excluded key witnesses whose contribution would illuminate many aspects. For example, senior officials of OSE, ERGOSE, the committee of experts appointed by the families, employee representatives, important experts, etc. were excluded.

As a summary of this operation comes the cynical statement of the president of the Examination Committee, Mr. Dimitrios Markopoulos, which led us as NEW LEFT to file a motion of censure against him, in accordance with the provisions of articles 70 par. 4 S., articles 144 par. 8, 34 par. 6 and 150 of the Parliamentary Part of the Civil Code (Government Gazette 106 A’ /24.6.1987), interpreted independently, but also in combination with each other, in view of the entire legal framework, within which they are included.

This action is the minimum gesture of respect in memory of the victims of Tempe and their families. Anything less turns the offense into a government line,” the impeachment motion reads.
