The authorities of Civil Protection in Evros have been alerted, especially in the area of Tychero, where the Ergin River flows, which in Turkey has overflowed and caused floods in agricultural crops and warehouses, while in some places the traffic on the road network has interrupted.
According to the Greek side, the overflow of the river (as can be seen from the photos published by hurriyet.com.tr) was caused by February 9, when in Turkey there was heavy rainfall, but also by the melting of snow from the mountains areas.
In fact, according to the data provided by the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the level of the river Ergini has now reached 853 cubic centimeters of water with a maximum of 1000, which has put the competent authorities of the neighboring country in orange alarm.
In Greece at the moment there is concern but not intense regarding the phenomenon, as there is an estimate that tomorrow Ergini level will continue to rise and possibly exceed the 1,000 m3 / sec which is the limit, however as reported by GRTimes , the head of the Civil Protection Directorate of Evros, Konstantinos Houvardas, “only if some embankment recedes we will have a problem, however we have seen them withstand even 1,200 or 1,400 cubic centimeters of water”.
