Weather: Snow in many areas of the country

Bitterly cold throughout the country with rain, storms and snow in many areas of the country, even at low altitude, are predicted today, according to the EMY.

General characteristics

The temperature will drop across the country, in the order of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. In the north and central areas it will range from -05 (minus 05) to 06 degrees, in the rest of the mainland from 02 to 08 to 10 degrees and in the island country from 04 to 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.

At Thessalythe Sporadesthe Euboeathe central and eastern Solid (including Attica), the eastern Peloponnese, the Cyclades and Creteand in the early hours of the morning at Chalcidice and its islands North Aegeanclouds with local rain and in the northernmost areas snow.

Snowfalls will be noted in places in the mountains as well as in semi-mountainous areas of the above regions (indicative altitude from 600 meters and above). Gradual weakening of the phenomena from the evening and from the north.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS

Weather: A few clouds temporarily increasing in the south.
Winds: From easterly directions 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 03 to 13 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus 5 to 6 degrees lower.

EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS

Weather: Temporarily increased cloudiness with local rains and snow in the mountains and semi-mountains, gradually weakening.
Winds: From northerly directions at 5 to 6 Beaufort which will weaken from midday to the north.
Temperature: From 02 to 11 degrees Celsius.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Cloudy with local rains and in the mountains of Crete snowfalls, gradually weakening.
Winds: Northerly 5 to 6 and locally up to 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 08 to 13 degrees Celsius.

EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE

Weather: Generally clear and in the north a few clouds temporarily increased with local rain or snow in the morning hours in the northernmost parts.
Winds: In the north northeast 5 to 6 Beaufort with weakening from noon. In the south north northwest 4 to 6 Beaufort and locally up to 7 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. In the north 4 to 6 degrees lower.

THESSALY

Weather: Temporarily increased cloudiness with local rains mainly in the south and east, with sleet and snowfall mainly in the eastern highlands and semi-mountains.
Winds: Northeast 3 to 4 and east 5 or 6 Beaufort, which will change to Northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 00 (zero) to 07 degrees Celsius.

ATTICA

Weather: Temporarily increased clouds with light rain or sleet until noon and snowfall mainly in the western and northern mountains.
Winds: From the north directions 3 to 4 and to the east 5 to 6 Beaufort with gradual weakening.
Temperature: From 03 to 09 degrees Celsius. In the northern parts in the morning the temperature will be 2 to 3 degrees lower.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: Generally clear with local clouds from the evening.
Winds: North Northwest 3 to 5 and gradually to 6 Beaufort.
Temperature: From -02 (minus 2) to 06 degrees Celsius.

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY 14-01-2024

Clouds with light local rains in the Cyclades and Crete and light snowfalls in the mountains of Crete that will soon stop. In western Greece a few clouds that will gradually increase and at night in the northern Ionian there will be local rains. In the rest of the country generally clear weather.
