Constantia Dimoglidou, press representative of ELAS, spoke about an “imported” criminal organization that seems to have been active in contraband tobacco products, speaking on the show “Connections” about the recent arrests regarding the execution of death contracts.

As he said, “Two arrests have already been made. Five more accused have been identified. Two of them are locked up in penitentiaries, two seem to have escaped abroad and one more, who continues to be sought in our country, while the activity of at least 10 more people is also closely monitored. The police investigation does not stop here. Of course, the common denominator seems to be activity in illegal tobacco products. And if these agencies hadn’t worked together to solve the cases they each handled, we wouldn’t be talking about solving all the cases today as the agencies tried to figure out what the perpetrators’ motivation might be. And we saw that there is a common element.

There is this element of activity in contraband tobacco products, where one group’s activity probably interfered with the activity of another.”

At another point he said that “[…] the gas station attack was not about the gas station at all. It concerned specific transport company vehicles. That’s why I say again that the common denominator of all these cases led us to understand that these are common perpetrators, a criminal group that was active in this industry”

Regarding whether the specific arrests are connected to the execution of B. Zampounis, he said that we should not rush to draw conclusions. “As the police editors very correctly asked yesterday the officers who were at the presentation at the General Police Directorate of Attica, if this arrest came after the last murder we had in the previous days and the Homicide officers explained that it is too early to talk about a homicide , we have a lot of data to look at and it would be a mistake to connect these solved cases.”
