The searches in Messolonghi for locating the body of 31-year-old Babis, who, after the arrest of the 50-year-old butcher, is considered to have been the victim of a murder, have been fruitless to this day.

Experts estimate that the body may take a long time to be found – even months – while his sister said they will search the entire plain “meter by meter” on their own. The 50-year-old butcher, who is also the last person to see Babis, before his disappearance, in Messolonghi, has been remanded in custody, without confessing to the 31-year-old’s murder, and is expected to plead guilty next Monday.

The contradictions

The authorities consider him as the main suspect in the disappearance of the 31-year-old, due to the contradictions in which he has fallen. The butcher initially reported to the police that he returned directly to his house, the night he took Babis to the TEI intersection, which, however, is not the case as a series of security cameras showed.

Also, although he himself had not mentioned that he had spoken to his 36-year-old friend, before and after Babi’s disappearance it was finally proven that he had. At the same time, the 50-year-old butcher told the police that he did not have his mobile phone with him on the night of his disappearance, which is not the case.

Possible involvement of another person

Her representative ELAS, Constantia Dimoglidou, speaking to MEGA yesterday, he did not rule out the possibility of another person being involved in the case of the disappearance of 31-year-old Babis.

“The investigation does not stop here, as we cannot rule out the involvement of other people. We will continue to examine whatever evidence we find to be able to find this man,” he said.

In fact, he emphasized that the motive has not been clarified, while the information in their hands of the police shows that an appointment was made between Babis and the butcher, but not for hunting.
