Regarding the horrific murder of the 7-year-old in Kypseli, by his mother and her partner, the Child’s Smile issued a statement, in which it announces what happened to the 29-year-old’s second child.
According to EL.AS officers, the story begins in 2015 when the biological father of the 7-year-old boy left, leaving behind the 29-year-old with their 2 children. The latter then entered into a relationship with the 33-year-old Pole.
In 2018, it was found out by the teachers of the school, where the then 10-year-old daughter of the 29-year-old was going, that she was abused as they saw marks on her, as a result of which they informed the juvenile prosecutor and the girl was given to a foster family.
The announcement:
“The Smile of the Child” regarding the murder of a 7-year-old boy by his 29-year-old mother and her 33-year-old Polish partner in 2017 in Kypseli, which was investigated today by the Greek Police:
He denounces an unprecedented vacuum in the system, following a number of supportive actions taken by the Organization, managing to save the sister of the murdered child.
Although the murdered child was never referred to or called the Organization’s Help and Support Lines, “The Child’s Smile” performed a series of actions, both for his mother (Christina-Claudia) as a minor and for his sister.
Specifically, it informs:
• On September 10, 2008 “The Smile of the Child” made an on-site intervention of the then minor, Christina-Claudia, (mother of the murdered child), who was then 15 years old. The on-site inspection took place following a complaint received by the Organization from a citizen. In addition, according to the person who called the SOS Line 1056, the then minor was pregnant.
• On May 16, 2018, “The Smile of the Child” sent a report to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office that the alleged sister of the murdered child is experiencing physical abuse and neglect. The girl appears to be the sister of the murdered child, as the complaint concerned her mother, Christina-Claudia.
• On May 17, 2018 – the next day – the principal of the school where the murdered child’s sister was going called the SOS Line 1056 and the Police were immediately informed, as the child had gone to school with bruises. Following a prosecutor’s order, she was taken to the hospital with her mother and volunteers from the Organization were with her every minute for her care and relief. However, the mother denied that her partner was abusing her little one.
• On May 21, 2018, psychological support was provided by the educational community for the child on the occasion of the incident with the bruises at school.
• On June 27, 2018 “The Smile of the Child” received a request for hospitality for the minor. The sister of the murdered child is now in a foster family. From the child psychiatric assessment carried out, it appears that the child who was found dead had been living with his father in Poland since November 2016.
The questions that arise are:
• The sister of the murdered child was saved, however, what actions had been taken to support the other child?
• While many updates and actions were taken for the protection of children, it seems that the system did not respond to the holistic support of the family and today we are facing the murder of another child.
