Escalation of the mobilizations is expected to be decided today by the farmers in a new meeting that will be held to determine their next moves.

In particular, after yesterday’s mobilizations, the farmers have decided to remain at the roadblocks in Karditsa, while they will once again attempt to close the National Road. Already, since yesterday, they have been announcing that starting today there will be stronger and more active blockades.

In Larissa, two more roadblocks were added, one in Zarko on the Larissa-Trikala road and one on the Larissa-Volos road on the old national road in the area of Rizomylos, according to SKAI reporter Panos Garoufallias. And today they are expected to try to exclude E65.

And in Epanomi in Thessaloniki, farmers are mobilizing, and on Friday they will move towards the airport hub with the aim of blocking it, as reported by SKAI reporter Elena Helvatzoglou.

Yesterday afternoon they started gathering again at the junction of the E65 in Karditsa and after their removal.

At the entrances and exits, agricultural vehicles remained lined up since noon and at the point the traffic on the provincial network was made through temporary traffic regulations. At the points leading up the E65 there were police vehicles as well as strong police forces.

Yesterday’s mobilizations by farmers, who are demanding compensation for the damages suffered by their properties after the bad weather, were episodic.

In particular, tension, pushing and disapproval occurred in Larissa and Karditsa with the farmers wanting to block the E65 highway and the National Road with tractors and stop traffic with the police trying to stop them. The farmers, however, broke through the police cordon and walked up the highway. Bloodshed flared when police forces repelled the farmers using chemicals.

Due to the protests, there are modifications to the traffic with the removal of the diversion at the Anavras junction and the suburban junction, while the ban on entering and exiting the Karditsa junction from both sides will continue to apply.
