“In its decision, the Security Council welcomes the recent appointment of the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Cyprus, Ms. Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, with the aim of resuming negotiations to resolve the Cyprus issue, on the basis of the bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, confirming the context of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Greece welcomes the reports of the Security Council, which, once again, condemns the unilateral actions of the occupying forces in Varosia and the dead zone, with particular reference to Pyla, calling for an immediate reversal of what has been done, refraining from further unilateral actions and implementation of the agreed”, it is characteristically noted.
“The renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP and the appointment of the personal envoy of the UNFICYP will contribute to the efforts aimed at finding a sustainable and just solution to the Cyprus conflict”, concludes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
