A 23-year-old student was sentenced to five months in prison, suspended for three years, by the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki for sexually harassing a 15-year-old over the Internet.

He was found guilty of sexual indecency, via the Internet, at the expense of a minor, while he was recognized with the mitigating factor of previous legal life.

The court decided that the 23-year-old’s appeal should have a suspensive effect on the execution of the sentence.

“I was informed by my son that there is a chat on messenger that has embarrassed him and made him feel scared. I read the conversations and understood exactly where the accused was going. At first he was talking to him about his hobby, about the OASTH buses, and then he was trying to gain his trust. She was telling him to meet, to go for a walk. To me it is clearly an attempt to seduce a minor to perform sexual acts» testified the mother of the 15-year-old who made the relevant complaint.

“I am studying, I am in the 4th year. I go to school only to give lessons. I work in a convenience store. I participate in a group for OASTH buses. I met him through the app and we started talking. I thought he was older, 17, 18 years old. I had no intention of having sex. I just wanted to stroke his feet. I’m so sorry. This has never happened before. When I realized he got angry (ie the 15 year old) I intended to stop it».

According to the case file, the incident took place on February 2. The 23-year-old was arrested after intensive searches by the Harilaou – Ascension Security Department in the afternoon of the same day.

The public prosecutor brought criminal proceedings against him for insulting sexual dignity, via the Internet, against a minor.

The minor’s mother filed a complaint with the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office, according to which the 23-year-old, through an online application for exchanging approximately 370 messages, developed communication with her son and tried to convince him to meet for life by continuously insulting his honor with proposals concerning in sexual acts.
