1355: On the day of the feast of Saint Scholastica, incidents break out in Oxford between students and locals. Reason, the quality of beer in a pub and the insulting comments of some students about the locals. The riots would end the next day, with 63 students and 30 civilians dead.

1904:The Russo-Japanese War breaks out over the disputed territories of Korea and Manchuria.

1942: Glenn Miller is awarded the first gold record in music history for his hit “Chattanooga Choo Choo.”

1947: The Dodecanese are transferred to Greece with the Treaty of Paris.

1956: The Eugenides Foundation is established by law, with funds from the will of the shipowner Eugene Eugenides and the purpose “to contribute to the education of young Greeks in the scientific and technical field”.

2008: Alexis Tsipras is elected the new President of the Coalition with 70% of the votes of the party’s 5th Congress.
