A 54-year-old man was found guilty of insulting the genital dignity of his minor granddaughter by the Ephesus Larissa Tripartite Court, with the court imposing a 10-month prison sentence with a three-year suspension.

The 54-year-old man, according to the indictment, on the morning of July 24, 2022, in a coastal village of the Municipality of Agia, “brutally insulted the honor” of his nephew’s minor (then 16.5 years old) daughter with gestures of a genital nature , “touching her with his hands” in areas detailed in the indictment “and while she was sleeping on her back in the bedroom” of the defendant’s country home.

The 54-year-old brother of the minor high school student’s grandfather and the sufferer – with the consent of her family – in the summer of 2022 were at his summer house on the coast of the Prefecture of Larissa for a weekend at the sea. But upon their return, the minor’s mother was the one who reported to the Larissa Security Directorate that the 54-year-old had beaten her daughter, as a result of which he was arrested and brought before the Court.

The minor had complained that her grandfather was the one who molested her while they were sleeping in the same bed, while the defendant, as he repeated in the hearing, emphasized that the minor was the one who provoked him. Denying, at the same time, what was reported against him regarding the violation of sexual dignity, while it is clarified that both from the preliminary investigation and from the hearing process, no other act against the minor emerged.

However, the 54-year-old’s completely different version of what happened at his holiday home was not accepted by the Court, which ultimately found him guilty, imposing a 10-month prison sentence suspended for three years
