A particularly dangerous turtle with a jaw so strong that its bite can break bone has been found in Cumbria, England

“Alligator turtles” live in rivers and swamps in Florida and are recognizable by their armor-like shells, giving them a … dinosaur-like “fighter” appearance.

After several sightings of this type of freshwater reptile, one of them was rescued by Urswick Tarn and local councilor Denise Chamberlain – who put the animal in a basket and took it to a vet.

“She was starting to look very distressed,” he told The Westmorland Gazette.

“I called various services, which did not help at all. Everyone thought it was an ordinary turtle, but it wasn’t,” he added, summarizing that it was probably owned by an exotic animal lover who could no longer care for it.

Alligator snapping turtles are an invasive species that can easily bite even bones and can cut off human fingers, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.

These turtles are hunters that usually feed on fish, frogs, small mammals and even other turtles. They can reach a length of 100 cm and weigh up to 90 kg.
