The “artificial”, as he described it, lack of weapons for Ukraine, strengthens Putin, warned the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and asked for continued support for his country. He also extended an invitation to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to visit Kiev and join him at the front.

“Unfortunately, keeping Ukraine in an artificial arms shortage, especially a lack of ammunition and long-range capabilities, allows Putin to maintain the current tension in the war,” Mr. Zelensky told the Munich Security Conference, in which was received with prolonged applause.

The Ukrainian president also referred to the case of the city Antiviivka, explaining that the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops was decided due to the problem of the lack of ammunition, as military support from the US has been delayed. “It was a justified decision, in order to save human lives,” he said. When he was even called upon to comment on the American position, he stated that “since the discussion is public, I will not say anything” and added that everything will be discussed in the meetings he will have on the sidelines of the Conference with American officials.

Asked why Donald Trump has not yet visited Ukraine, Mr. Zelensky stated that he has already invited him and even to visit the war front together. “I want to show him how open and true information we give about the war,” he noted.

“Don’t ask Ukraine when the war will end. Ask yourselves why Putin is still able to keep him going. I believe that if we remain in dialogue about how the war can be ended, then we should with our decisions show the decision makers what real war means and not war from Instagram,” he concluded.
