The president of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa invited the Athenians to participate in Tuesday’s rally, to demand cheaper and healthier agricultural products
On Monday morning, the first tractor convoys start to reach Syntagma Square for Tuesday’s rural rally.
According to his report Panos Garoufalia, tomorrow at around 11 am the first tractor convoy will start from Platykambos and Stefanovikio. A second convoy of tractors will start from Trikala, Karditsa and Farsala around the same time.
According to estimates, 70 to 80 tractors will move tomorrow on the national road to go to Kastro, where they will meet other colleagues.
On Tuesday morning, everyone will start the march towards the Constitution.
They will be accompanied by many beekeepers with their commercial vehicles, while approximately 70 coaches with 5,000 farmers will head to Athens.
At the same time, many farmers will come to Athens with their private cars.
THE Rizos Maroudaspresident of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa, speaking to SKAI, said that there will be a large participation of farmers in Tuesday’s rally.
“It will be the biggest agricultural rally that has ever taken place in our country” he said and added that there is a fighting spirit and determination.
“We can demand solutions, for the government to understand that we are talking about a huge problem that needs solutions and not half measures,” he said.
At the same time, he invited the Athenians to participate in the rally, to claim cheaper and healthier products.
Regarding the descent of the tractors in the center of Athens, he said that “we believe that there will be no problem. We will go to Athens in an orderly fashion, stay one night and leave in an orderly fashion.”
When asked if there has been an agreement with the relevant ministry, he replied: “Our decision is that we will go with the tractors to Athens, this decision we have made will be implemented.”
Asked what separates the farmers from an agreement with the government, he referred to the demand for tax-free oil and for compensation for crops that were unfruitful or damaged.
