On Tuesday, the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate proceeded to the arrest of a 43-year-old man, against whom a case file was filed for violation of the legislation on intellectual property and on the protection of subscription services, respectively.

According to the relevant announcement, the arrest was preceded by a complaint according to which an unknown person was conducting an illegal live broadcast of subscription television channels, without a relevant license, while advertising his services on the internet, for a monetary fee in the form of a subscription.

The above was brought to her attention Athens District Attorney’s Office and a preliminary examination was ordered.

A methodical and thorough investigation followed, and after analyzing the resulting digital data, the 43-year-old’s involvement in the case was determined. An investigation that followed at his home in an area of ​​Attica, in the presence of a judicial officer, revealed the use of unauthorized equipment and the rebroadcasting of the content of two subscription companies, without the legal subscription and permission.

In particular, from the investigation, among others, the following were found and confiscated: a mobile phone, with a customer-subscriber management panel (panel), -2- IPTV Android Box, which were suitably modified for the retransmission of subscription TV channels, and a hard disk and USB stick.

The arrested person was taken to the competent prosecuting authority and referred to an Investigator, while the seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
