The most advanced training aircraft in the world now belongs to potential of our Air Force. In the M-346 trains future F-16 Viper, Rafale and F-35 pilots. THE SKAI camera entered in the state-of-the-art educational base of Kalamata and recorded exclusive images.

The M-346 came to take off the capabilities of the Air Force.

“This is the most modern aircraft currently in the air force. It is similar to flying an F-16. The trainers who come from fighters tell me that we are a very serious opponent”, states the Commander 362 MEA, Deputy Commander, Faldamis Anastasios.

With the M-346, the Air Force is leaping into the future.

The cockpit of the M-346 was designed in a way that simulates the cockpits of the most modern fighters.

“Special weapons, missiles, all of these can be simulated by the plane, we can create scenarios, threats and integrate all of this into the training,” says 362 MEA Commander, Deputy Commander, Faldamis Anastasios.

SKAI was at the most modern training base in Europe, the 120 Air Training Wing of Kalamata.

“Our goal is to promote the unit to an international training center since it has capabilities that many modern air forces would envy”, emphasizes the 120PEA Commander, Brigadier General Nikolaos Tsivourakis.

Kalamata is at the cutting edge of technology as it has virtual reality systems and state-of-the-art simulators for all stages of training.

“The plane you can see is currently being flown by an instructor, it is the instructor we saw in the other room and so we can work together,” says Deputy Commander (I) – Commander 362 MEA, Faldamis Anastasios

In the framework of the Greek-Israeli agreement for the upgrade of Kalamata, the availability of T-6, the basic training aircraft, also increased.

“It’s a propeller but it has the performance of a small jet. The aircraft have been upgraded in terms of numbers, availability and also the ground infrastructure”, states Deputy Commander (I), Konstantinos Asimakopoulos.

The Air Force is set to take delivery of the 5th M-346 in March and by Spring 2025 will have 10 state-of-the-art trainers.
