The local community of Alexandroupoli was plunged into deep sadness for him tragic loss of the 15-year-old, who died after falling from the light fixture of an apartment building on Saturday morning.
On Sunday afternoon he was taken to his last residence. Devastated parents bowed during the exodus procession, with Metropolitan Anthimos of Alexandroupolis characteristically saying that “it is a difficult moment for us” listening to the pain of the relatives, as the 15-year-old’s grandfather is a priest. “He was a good boy, everyone loved him” shouted his relatives, with his teachers and classmates also accompanying him to his final residence.
The unimaginable tragedy occurred on Saturday morning, when the 15-year-old fell from the roof of a five-story apartment building in front of his father.
According to the data, he rushed to help him to repair the antenna. The minor was carrying some boxes and at some point, he tried to take a picture. Then, he took the final, but fatal step. He stepped on the glass of the skylight, it broke and he found himself in the void from a height of five floors.
The Fire Service and EKAV rushed to the scene in order to extricate him and rescue him, however, shortly afterwards he breathed his last and spread sadness to his family, as on Friday, he celebrated his 15th birthday.
