pause, for April 10, in the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Ioannina, the case of the former First Instance Prosecutor and head of the Corfu First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, Maria Tatakis, who is accused of “criminal abuse of power in a true and real confluence” and of “seizure of public documents in series”.

An adjournment request was submitted by the accused former public prosecutor for the suspension of her defense lawyer, as well as by her co-accused former deputy head of the Secretariat Directorate due to the abstention of the defense counsel. The two requests for an adjournment were rejected and the trial was adjourned until April 10.

The case was revealed in 2019 and is related to the removal of the former judicial officer thousands of files from her service, resulting in statute of limitations on thousands of felonies, felonies and misdemeanors.

The accused, by decision of the Plenary of the Supreme Court, on April 14, 2022, was dismissed from the House without the right to work. About 1,000 of the case files were found in her friend’s warehouse in the village of Garouna, Corfu, while others were found in the house where she lived. To date, the fate of 156 case files remains unknown.

At the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals, as a witness for the prosecution, the former president of the Corfu Bar Association, Giorgos Kaloudis, who speaking to APE-MPE, spoke of a “para-prosecutor” circuit.

“The complaints she received from citizens, then, the prosecutor of Appeals, that their cases are delayed too much led to the revelation of the case. I did my duty”, said Giorgos Kaloudis and added:

“There have been dozens of attempts to cover up the case. It has been largely covered up. I have received both named and anonymous threats against my life and my family, since then until now.

Cases a set of cases, such as case non-payment of VAT amounting to 7 million euros, or cases involving crimes against life. It’s a huge scandal. We need to get answers. Where are the thousands of lawsuits?

The woman whose home was found with 1,000 smuggled files was never charged.

It is possible for Corfu to roar for 4 months and the then leadership of the Police Directorate to not find “a truck”, because there were so many indictments, while for 2 grams of hashish addicts are accused of criminal organization. Is this Justice?’
