THE Greek police get it first electric highway patrol car, donation of “New Road”.

In the presence of the General Secretary of Public Order, Manos Logothetiswas received on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, by the “Nea Odos” company, the first VAN-type electric vehicle – service color -, which is part of the fleet of the Hellenic Police for the needs of highway policing.

The vehicle was handed over by the CEO of the company, Rodianos Antonakopoulosas part of an event held at Motorist Service Station (SEA) “Malakassa – Sirius”.

The General Secretary of Public Order spoke for a “green” transition of the Greek Police and especially the Traffic taking delivery of the modern electric vehicle, which will cover the service needs of the 2nd Department of Motorway Traffic P.A.Th.E. Attica. It is worth noting that this is the first electric patrol vehicle that circulates on a highway, with a range of approximately 320 kilometers.

“We are in this position today to receive this vehicle with great joy and thanks to the Nea Odos company. It is – I dare say – the first step of our cooperation in a green upgrade of the Greek Police and Traffic”, noted Mr. Logothetis.

It is noted that, after a special configuration, the vehicle has been fitted with the necessary equipment, in order to meet the needs of an investigative patrol car.

In particular, it carries, among other things, a portable computer with control programs for trucks-buses and other heavy vehicles, a portable RADAR for speed control, as well as a breathalyzer for drunkenness.

With the addition of this vehicle, the operational readiness and the level of services provided by the Traffic Police are further upgraded, while it is another decisive step in the Greek Police’s goal for the green transition.

The event was attended by the Director of the Attica Traffic Directorate, Brigadier General Christos Papafilippou, the Commander of the 2nd Highway Traffic Department PA.THE. Attica, Police Deputy Director Chrysoula Baku, as well as representatives of the company.
