After coordinated actions of its police officers Public Security Team of the Kilkis Security Department7 members of a criminal group were arrested, who imported and trafficked quantities of illegal agricultural drugs in the country.

These are 5 local men and 2 foreign men, against whom a case file was filed for forming a gang and smuggling.

In particular, from the detailed investigation by the police, it emerged that the aforementioned men had formed a criminal group, with the aim of illegally importing into the country illegal agricultural drugs and their further trafficking, obtaining illegal financial benefit.

In the context of an organized police operation, yesterday evening (23 March 2024) in a rural area of Imathia, were detected at the moment they were transporting quantities of contraband pesticides from a truck – in which the 2 foreign men were riding – in two I.X.E. vehicles – which were occupied by 4 of the national men – who were arrested.

The fifth local man was spotted nearby getting into an I.X.E. vehicle, supervising the area and in the sight of the policemen, he sped off in order to escape, but a little later he was spotted and arrested.

In a search of the truck, 680 packages and 318 containers of illegal pesticides were found and confiscated, and in the other 2 I.X.E. vehicles were found and 98 packages of contraband pesticides were seized.

A total of 778 kg and 306 liters of illegal pesticides were seized, which did not, as required, have a label with a Greek inscription and instructions for use, nor a product approval number and a marketing permit, while the legal taxes and duties were not paid for them.

A total of 5,065 euros was found in the possession of the 2 local men and one foreign man and confiscated.

The above vehicles were also confiscated.

Those arrested, with the case filed against them, were taken to the District Attorney of Veria.
