Steady course of de-escalation of the pandemic and relaxation of measures

Stable is the course de-escalation of epidemiological burden in our country while at the same time, the restrictions against it coronavirus relaxed.
The new infections recorded in the country on Saturday, according to EODY, reached 15,305, the number of patients treated by intubation is 463, while 77 deaths were announced. Attica remains in the “red” with 5142 cases being detected in the Basin, while in Thessaloniki 1559 new infections were recorded and in Achaia 532.

With the phrase, the decision on relaxation of the measures does not mean that there is complacency, the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, stressed that everyone is prepared for a possible resurgence of the pandemic by the fall. “There is no end to the pandemic,” he said. Outlining the rationale behind the decision to relax the measures, he noted that all EU countries is guided by the fact that the restrictions should be lifted by mid-to late March depending on the pressure on the Health systems.

And the scientists for their part, they point out that yes, the pandemic recedes, but at a slow pace, while at the same time sending a clear message that the gradual lifting of restrictions does not mean the end of pandemic. In addition, they emphasize the fact that citizens must learn to live with the coronavirus.

In fact, the professor of Pulmonology at the University of Crete, Nikos Tzanakisspeaking to SKAI, on Saturday morning, expressed the assessment that by the summer a new mutation of the coronavirus will appear.

As he characteristically mentioned, our virus is used to surprises and many times we think that we have finished the virus and it is not finished.
“Let’s be careful. “I expect another surprise from the virus, a new mutation until the summer, which we hope will be the last”, said Mr. Tzanakis.
However, he noted that society now has the weapons to fight the virus and return to normalcy.

Regarding the masks, the professor stressed that the scenario of throwing them away in the summer has many possibilities, however indoors they will be kept for a long time.

With regard to the unvaccinated, however, the previous prohibitions apply.

Compulsory remains the double mask or the high protection mask in supermarkets and public transport, but also the use of a mask indoors and outdoors.
