The police officers were arrested as, for their presence in the area, misleading information was invoked which contradicted official data
Yesterday morning, Friday 29 March 2024, in the center of Athens, the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces arrested two police officers, who serve in the services of Attica and one is on holiday and a case was filed against them for breach of duty, false deposition, as well as for violation of weapons laws.
In particular, yesterday morning, the owner of a shop in the area of ​​Agios Panteleimons, noticed three people, who, having their features partially covered, were spying on the surrounding area of ​​his shop and considering that they were going to commit a robbery at his expense, he called for help.
An employee of a nearby store informed the Security Department of Agios Panteleimon, whose police immediately went to the scene and immobilized the two people, while when it was established that they were police officers, the preliminary investigation was taken over by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, a team of which went to the area.
Subsequently, the police officers were arrested as, for their presence at the site, misleading information was invoked which contradicted official data, while the police officer on holiday concealed his service of origin and the fact that he is on holiday.
In searches carried out in the homes of the accused, in the presence of a judicial officer, the following were found and confiscated:
- -2- knives, of which one is a knife type,
- -2- iron fists,
- -230- cartridges,
- -3- pistol magazines and
- cutlass.
Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
