A 68-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman from Albania died tragically
Lawsuit against the 64-year-old driver of I.X.E. vehiclewhich crashed into a bus stop and killed two women – a 68-year-old citizen and a 20-year-old from Albania – is being formed by the competent police authorities.
In a statement issued by EL.AS. in relation to the tragic event it is stated:
“Today (April 1, 2024) at approximately 09:40, at the 6th kilometer of the provincial road Verias – Skydras, I.X.E. a vehicle driven by a 64-year-old local man veered off course, crashed into a bus stop and swept away a 68-year-old local woman and a 20-year-old foreign woman, resulting in their fatal injuries.
The 64-year-old driver was arrested and a case is being filed against him. The Veria Traffic Department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the exact causes of the accident.”
The chronicle of the tragedy
The traffic accident happened at 10 am in the village of Patrida Veriawhen a car driver crashed into a bus stop, dragging two women.
According to veriotis.gr, the driver of a car traveling on the main road of Patrida, heading towards Naoussa, under unclear circumstances, lost control of his vehicle, which deviated from its course, went into the opposite direction and crashed into a city bus stop, it hit a concrete fence and almost fell into the yard of a house.
At that time two women were waiting at the stop, an old woman about 70 years old and a girl about 20 years old, who were seriously injured. The vehicle hit the elderly woman which was thrown and dragged for several meters, hit a fence and ended up seriously injured in a house yard.
People were thrown from their homes and businesses by the loud noise of the crash. A woman, at whose house the vehicle ended up, spotted, a few meters away, injured the elderly woman who had no pulse and was seriously injured.
An ambulance immediately arrived at the scene and the rescuers proceeded with CPR in order to bring back the woman, who was transferred to the Veria Hospital. Unfortunately, however, she succumbed to her severe injuries. The 20-year-old was immediately taken to the Veria Hospital, seriously injured, with doctors fighting to keep her alive. A short time later, she unfortunately succumbed to her severe injuries.
