Forty-seven arrests for possession and trafficking of narcotics were made from last Tuesday afternoon to Sunday morning during checks by the police officers of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki in various areas of the city.

Charges were filed against the arrested for violating the law on addictive substances, while quantities of cannabis, heroin, cocaine and narcotic tablets were seized. Those arrested were taken to the competent judicial authorities.

In the meantime, police officers from the Moudania Department arrested a person for drug trafficking and possession. In his home in Thessaloniki, more than 56 grams of cocaine and the sum of 2,900 euros were found and confiscated. A criminal case was filed against him.

Operation on Juvenile Delinquency

A special operational action of the Juvenile Protection Sub-Directorate of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate was carried out to prevent and deal with juvenile delinquency in areas of the Municipality of Kalamaria.

The action, properly planned, aimed to collect data and map the movement of minors who may be involved in delinquent incidents. Specifically, police officers were found in selected parts of the area while a total of 137 people were checked.

Three people were arrested for violating the Drug and Weapons Act.

The data collected will be the subject of evaluation, utilization and investigation for the design of targeted actions in areas where there is an accumulation of cases of juvenile delinquency. Similar excursions will continue in the field of preventing and dealing with the phenomenon of youth crime.
