The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced today that it has learned of 54 cases in which Russian soldiers allegedly shot Ukrainian prisoners of war.
In total 27 criminal proceedings have been initiatedstressed Yury Belusov, head of the department in charge of war crimes at the state prosecutor’s office.
The most recent case of a prisoner of war being executed in public on Sunday is based on video filmed from the village of Krinki in the southern Ukrainian province of Kherson.
The first shot of a Ukrainian POW was recorded in March 2022.
A court decision has already been issued in the case of the execution of a prisoner by a Russian soldier in the northern Ukrainian province of Chernihiv. In most cases, however, investigations are hampered by the fact that Ukrainian investigators do not have access to the site or the bodies.

In 2022 and early 2023, however, the shooting of 25 Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian soldiers was also recorded.
